The Betterment Room - Devices For Measuring Achievement (2004/5) is a new study examining the visual identity and behaviour of the post-industrial worker. Here, the blithe, the willing and the compliant are equipped with appropriate mechanisms and attachments, set against grids and clocks to help our study of their productive capacity at the work face. The Cyclegraph series becomes an attempt to analyse and determine the trajectories of Strand's activity throughout the project attempting to measure and make tangible the, at times, ambiguous nature of a residency.
